The irony of Trump's argument regarding the trillions of dollars wasted in Iraq and Afghanistan would have been better spent at home is inescapable. The conflict between the defense industrial apparatus and the infrastructure proponents has been a life long struggle.
It will be interesting to see which side blinks first.
Republicans by nature have been pro-defense, pro-Pentagon, pro-inflating the military budget. Trump will be under enormous pressure to maintain feeding the expenditures in the defense-industrial complex while having to deliver on bringing jobs back.
Even though the House and Senate are held by Republicans, they will not rubber stamp Trump's legislative agenda. It is the legislator's main job, to please their big donors in order to keep the donations flowing.
Trump: YOU OWN IT NOW!
